Three Peshawar police killed by extremist group in revenge for US drone attacks

Islamabad, Feb 24 (ANI): Al-Qaeda linked Islamist militant group Sheikh Abdullah Azaam brigade has taken responsibility for killing three policemen in a suicide attack at a police station in Peshawar today, in protest against US drone attacks.

 

The group said it took the step to avenge the killing of Badr Munir in a drone attack. The group has warned that there would be more such attacks, The Nation reports.

 

According to Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Imtiaz Altaf, three suicide bombers entered the Kotwali Police Station in Peshawar on Friday morning and blew themselves up.

 

Three cops, including the officer in charge of the police station, were killed. Six others were hurt.

 

The bodies and the injured have been shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital. (ANI)
