In form Cook may still be England T20 star

London, Feb 23(ANI): England opener Alastair Cook, who was not considered a realistic Twenty 20 candidate may soon find himself in the national squad for the shortest format owing to his blistering one-day form.

With the World Twenty20 Cup to be held in Sri Lanka in September, Cook's consistent heavy run scoring provides the England selectors and captain Stuart Broad with a viable option.

"Cookie is keen to play T20 cricket and he has made that pretty obvious. He has been kept in the squad because we've got some injury concerns," The Mirror quoted Broad, as saying.

"With Cookie, it seems that whatever you throw on his plate and challenge him with, he can adapt his game and change his game to that," he added.

"A lot of this game is a mental game, we all know that, and he is obviously a very strong mental character and can adjust his game for any format," Broad said.

England have just seven games to prepare before they set off for the World T20 in September and Broad is excited about his side's chances already.

"I look around the squad and I'm excited by what I see," he said. (ANI)
