Jeremy Lin graces Sports Illustrated cover for 2nd week in a row

New York, Wed, 22 Feb 2012 ANI

New York, Feb 22 (ANI): Jeremy Lin has made it to the cover of the Sports Illustrated magazine for the second consecutive week, becoming the first New York athlete to do so.

The undrafted point guard with a Harvard diploma was shown on the February 20 cover driving to the hoop against the Lakers.

This time, No 17 pumps his fist on the front page of the February 27 issue, which promises to tell the unlikely story of how his sudden success has reached a global scale - with money to match.

According to the SI article, Lin is now more popular in China than Yao Ming, the New York Daily News reported.

Some have said there is a jinx attached to the cover of the magazine and blamed the spot for ending streaks and even careers. However, Michael Jordan's game didn't seem to suffer even though he made 49 cover appearances.

The last athlete to create enough buzz to merit back-to-back covers was Dallas Maverick power forward Dirk Nowitzki last June when he led Dallas to the NBA title.

The Lin issue hits the stands on Wednesday. (ANI)
