Spurs not ready to let Redknapp leave

London, Sun, 19 Feb 2012 ANI

London, Feb 19(ANI): Tottenham Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that club's chairman Daniel Levy has told him that he wants him to stay with the club.

Spurs are anticipating that the Football Association will approach them for Redknapp to fill the vacant post of England's manager.

Redknapp has been speaking to Levy 'nearly every day' and it has been made clear to him that his chairman wants him to continue the inspiring work he is doing at Spurs.

"Daniel wants me to stay I know that... We've got a job to do here and I've not discussed anything with anyone outside of that. Not had a conversation with anyone," the Telegraph quoted Redknapp as saying.

Spurs paid Portsmouth 5 million pounds in reimbursement to get Redknapp to White Hart Lane and stood by him through his recent tax evasion trial. Furthermore, he still has a year left on his contract.

Redknapp said that if the FA approaches him for the England manager's job then he would consult his son Jamie before taking a decision.

"I speak to Jamie more than anybody. I'd speak to him about it for sure, he's the one I'd stand on more than anyone," he said.

The FA are in the process of considering other candidates which would strengthen their negotiating position when they do begin the process of appointing the new man. (ANI)
