Morgan's poor form could help Bopara secure England Test spot

Dubai, Feb 17(ANI): Essex batsman Ravi Bopara is targeting an England Test spot after showing good form in the one-day series against Pakistan and he has a good chance to press his claims in the wake of Eoin Morgan's poor form.

He wants to use Morgan's own method against him by scoring important runs in the one days and winning games for England.

Bopara has said he is contend with his current situation, but wants to play Test cricket, as he sees it as a decisive aim for him.

"I'm happy, but I want to play Test cricket. That's the ultimate goal because Test cricket is the most important thing for me," The Mirror quoted Bopara, as saying.

He said that scoring runs in one-day cricket would assist him, and if there is any spot available in England Test team, then he would be the first one to grab it.

"Scoring runs in one day cricket will help massively because going into this Sri Lanka series it wasn't ideal we lost 3-0 to Pakistan," Bopara said. But if there are any changes and a batting spot becomes available, I'm going to be the first one to take it," he said.

"I don't expect to be given a chance but I'd like to be knocking on that door so hard they can't ignore it. A few more runs in this series and hopefully I'll get that shot," he added. (ANI)
