Watson wants opener's spot back despite Cowan's good showing

Sydney, Thu, 16 Feb 2012 ANI

Sydney, Feb 16(ANI): Australian all rounder Shane Watson has said he wants to return as a Test opener for Australia, since he has been most successful at the spot.

Watson, who is in Perth to play a New South Wales Vs Western Australia Sheffield Shield fixture, said: "I'd love to be able to open."

"That's where I've had the most enjoyment as a batsman and that's where my game really progressed from the opportunity to open the batting. That's where I'd love to be able to bat, no doubt," The Fox News quoted him, as saying.

Though he praised Ed Cowan and David Warner for their decent showing as an opening pair against India, Watson said: "It's going to be interesting to see where things pan out." (ANI)
