Aitzaz says Gilani's contempt of court case will take 'time to solve'

Islamabad, Wed, 15 Feb 2012 ANI

Islamabad, Feb 15 (ANI): Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani's counsel Aitzaz Ahsan has said his client's contempt of court case will take time to solve.

He also said the respect of parliament would not be at stake due to the pending cases.

"Although the judiciary has respect, parliament is the supreme institution of the country," the Daily Times quoted him, as saying.

He further added that representatives of parliament would be released from all cases with respect and honour.

Gilani was indicted by the Supreme Court over contempt of court charges in the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) case on February 13.

Giving its verdict, the Supreme Court said: "Gilani did not act on the Supreme Court's order".

Gilani not only refuted all charges against him, but also refused to write to the Swiss authorities over the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) case. (ANI)
