Kayani says Pak "Parliament reserves right" to decide resumption of NATO supplies

Islamabad, Tue, 14 Feb 2012 ANI

Islamabad, Feb 14 (ANI): Pakistan army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has said only parliament has the right to decide on the resumption of NATO supplies, which was halted following the killing of 24 Pakistani soldiers in NATO attacks.

"Parliament reserves the right to decide the resumption of NATO supplies," The Express Tribune quoted General Kayani, as saying.

He hinted at Pakistan's improved coordination with the United States over conducting operations at the Afghan border.

He also declared that: "Jacobabad Airbase is now under the control of the PAF."

Talking about the US, whose officials vacated the Salala air base following the November 26 attack, the army chief said Islamabad and Washington are cooperating on defence operations. (ANI)
