MJ's jailed doc banned from practicing medicine in Texas

New York, Mon, 13 Feb 2012 ANI

New York, Feb 13 (ANI): Conrad Murray, who is serving four-year jail term for the involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson, has been banned from practicing medicine in Texas.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the Texas Medical Board (TMB) suspended Murray's medical license on Friday.

A board spokeswoman said the suspension "achieves the same effect as license revocation," the New York Post reported.

Murray started a cardiology practice in Houston in 2006 and saw patients in the state as recently as mid-2011, though a 2010 action by the TMB banned him from administering propofol.

He was found guilty in November of administering the dose of propofol that caused 50-year-old pop icon Jackson's death in June 2009.

Murray filed a request last month to be released from jail pending his appeal against his conviction. (ANI)
