PDP's Mehbooba Mufti dubs Omar Abdullah government 'corrupt'

Jammu, Thu, 09 Feb 2012 ANI

Jammu, Feb 9 (ANI): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti has said that Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's government has lost all credibility after several of his ministers were found to be involved in cases of graft.

The latest-scam involves Education Minister Peerzada Mohammed Sayeed who helped his son to cheat in a class 10 examination.

Mehbooba said: "You have a Chief Minister, who is under a cloud, after the exposure of corruption within the family and the death of the person, Yusuf Shah, ministers like Taj Mohi-ud-Din and Rahim Rather and other ministers against whom there are solid allegations, not from the opposition, but from the government itself. that they have property in Dubai, they have land worth crores and crores, and the Chief Minister's institution has lost its credibility after death of Shah," she said.

"The Chief Minister, as the head of the government, has lost the authority and you know everyone is making hay while the sun shines. So, you cannot be selective now about Peerzada," she added

Justice was a far fetched dream, as corruption was a deep rooted systemic problem, she said.

"It all seems to be a mockery, when we say Peerzada should resign, what about the head of the government himself? What about the other ministers? Every institution has broken down during these last three years. Now, we had this education institution and what can the students and boys say now?" said Mufti.

Mufti also blamed the state government for misusing funds sanctioned for several schemes, including the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA). (ANI)
