Mullen refuses to appear Memo Gate probe body

Islamabad , Thu, 09 Feb 2012 ANI

Islamabad, Feb 9(ANI): Former US military chief Admiral Mike Mullen has written a letter to the Pakistan Supreme Court to appear before the judicial commission investigating the Memo Gate scandal.

Meanwhile, Pakistan-American businessman Mansoor Ijaz's counsel Akram Sheikh said the commission does not have the authority to summon his client.

Sheikh said Ijaz would be bound by Pakistan's law on entering the country's territory and added that all assurances for his security would be void, The Dawn reports.

He added that his client could not travel to either Pakistan or Dubai and demanded that his statement should be recorded at the Pakistani High Commission in London.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq has opposed Sheikh's request for the commission to travel abroad. (ANI)
