Tokyo, February 1(ANI): The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has said that Japan's two-stage test to determine the steadiness of its nuclear plants in the event of a natural catastrophe, requires more work.
According to a report the tests conducted by Japan's main nuclear regulator have been found generally consistent with IAEA safety standards, but is still expected to delay resumption of work at its idled reactors.
International Atomic Energy Agency experts conducted their first inspection of the Japanese nuclear power plant that has undergone official stress tests, The Wall Street Journal reports.
An IAEA mission tabled the report during its nine-day visit here, which included an on-site inspection of safety checks at the Oi nuclear plant operated by the Kansai Electric Power Co.
Tokyo invited the team as part of its campaign to authenticate stress tests of reactors following the Fukushima Daiichi plant disaster in March 2011. (ANI)
