Shiv Sena activists ransacks Times of India office in Mumbai

Mumbai, Jan 28 (ANI): Shiv Sena activists today attacked the Times of India office here in reaction of a report in TOI's marathi daily, Maharashtra Times stating that Shiv Sena Lok Sabha member, Anandrao Adsul was on his way to join Nationalist Congress Party.

 

Over 300 people, shouting pro-Shiv Sena slogans and holding saffron flags barged into the newspaper office, located at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Railway Terminus.

 

"Members of the cooperative bank union barged into our office an hour back and started ransacking the place. They even tried to attack the employees and the Times of India lobby has suffered great loss," said Sharangh Darshani, Associate Editor, Maharashtra Times.

 

Police officials arrived at the scene soon and nabbed 16 people. They later stated that more arrests would soon be made after examining the CCTV footage from the building lobby.

 

"We have picked up 16 people in connection with this incident and we are confident of picking up more people soon. Police will take strict action in this matter and after charging the culprits with the offence we shall be making arrests. The police will take stern action in this matter," said Joint Commissioner of Police, Rajnesh Seth. (ANI)
