Murray on path to elusive first major title: Becker

Sydney , Sat, 28 Jan 2012 ANI

Sydney, Jan 28(ANI): Though Andy Murray once again failed to convert a good performance at the Australian Open into a grand slam title, former Grand Slam winner Boris Becker believes he has come of age.

"Even though he ended up losing in five sets, I feel that we might look back at this match as the day he came of age," said Becker in his column in The Telegraph.

Becker thinks Murray is on the right path to win a grand slam title sooner than later.

"The quality of his tennis certainly suggested to me that he is on the path towards that elusive first major title. The way he is playing, it might happen sooner than you think," he said.

Murray is playing with the right mental attitude and didn't make the mistakes, which he used to make on previous occasions, Becker said.

"Of course, you can go through a match like this and pick out the moments where it might have gone one way or another. But what matters above all is how you approach the match. It's all about having the right game plan and the right mental attitude," he added. (ANI)
