Legendary Laver still awed to see his name on stadium

Melbourne, Jan 25(ANI): Australian Tennis legend Rod Laver has returned to Melbourne Park to mark the 50th anniversary of his historic four grand slam wins.aver who was the world number 1 for seven straight years still feels great to have a stadium named in his honor.

 

"The crowning jewel of my whole career is seeing the stadium lit up," The Herald Sun quoted, Laver as saying.

 

He insists that he still remembers the matches he used to play here and seeing his name on this stadium feels amazing to him.

 

"There is a flood of memories coming back of the matches played and being able to absorb it and recognize it. The main thing is being back here and seeing the name on this amazing stadium," he added.

 

Laver lives in California even gave a suggestion to keep the birds, which had been bothering during the night games at bay.

 

"My son said we need a couple of ravens up there to scare them off. Maybe some fake ones would do it. You just have to put up with it, your concentration has got to be better than the birds flying up there," he added. (ANI)
