Website helps jilted lovers discard unwanted gifts from bad relationships

New York, Jan 25 (ANI): A new website has been launched to help broken-hearted lovers cash in on undesired presents from their relationships that have gone sour.

Annabel Acton, 28, who has created this website - neverlikeditanyway.com, was apparently inspired by her own miserable break-up with her boyfriend five days before Christmas while living together on the Lower East Side.

Encouraged by her friends, the Australian-born Acton decided to set up a kind of eBay for bitter brides and disgruntled grooms and other broken-hearted, the New York Post reported. All this pathetic 'Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all' was sappy. I wanted something spunky," she said.

"I wanted it to be irreverent like 'Sex in the City,' or like what would happen if Beyonce got dumped, what would she do about it.

"They need to move on and not cry in a pile of tissues, eating ice cream."

The sellers are required to post the "real world" price of the item, the discounted "break-up" price, a photo of the item, and have to blog about their break-up.

Tara Jackson, 25, a product-development consultant from Lower East Side, disposed of a piece of jewellery within a week.

She said that she loved the diamond bracelet her long-time boyfriend gifted her a few years ago, but after he dumped her, it simply had to go.

"I would kill myself if I ran into him and I was wearing it," she said.

After selling the 500 dollars bracelet for 230 dollars, she felt she had taken a bit of revenge.

"So in a way, the site was me getting the last laugh," she said, calling the Web site a "gathering of the sisterhood," although guys are also on it," she added. (ANI)
