Sheila Dikshit dubs campaigning by Team Anna in poll-bound states as futile

Dehradun , Sun, 22 Jan 2012 ANI

Dehradun, Jan 22 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Sunday said campaigning by veteran anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare and his team in poll-bound states would bear no effect on the election results.

"Team Anna should campaign, who is stopping them from that? There is no ban on that. It would bear no effect on the poll results. In Delhi also there was no effect as such. When their entire movement began in and proceeded from Delhi, yet there was no effect apart from the fact that people had to face inconvenience for two or three days, there was no outcome," Dikshit told media here.

Slamming Team Anna for levelling corruption charges on others, Dikshit advised them to rather put their own house in order.

"Team Anna should first look at themselves. They should look inwards whether it was about airplane tickets and the way they accumulated money etc. they should first look inside themselves and then comment on others," she added.

Recently, close aides of Hazare have come under scrutiny for various graft charges.

Meanwhile, reacting on the recent survey published in a leading national daily, which read that 'women are not safe in Delhi', Dikshit held responsible the increased illegal crisscrossing through the Delhi borders.

"It is right, that in Delhi the atmosphere is such that women do not feel safe, the figures given by the police are totally opposite to the real ones. But the biggest problem in Delhi, which leads to such a situation, is the migration of people that come and settle in Delhi and the crisscrossing that takes place at the Delhi borders; from Haryana to Punjab or from Punjab to UP, etc. so, the numbers of criminals that should be caught are not getting caught," said Dikshit.
