Newcastle manager Pardew front-runner to succeed Capello as England boss

London, Sun, 15 Jan 2012 ANI

London, Jan 15(ANI): Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has emerged as the front-runner to succeed Fabio Capello as England boss, alongside West Brom's Roy Hodgson and Harry Redknapp.

Pardew has emerged a serious candidate to succeed Capello after this summer's European Championship in the wake of mounting concerns over Redknapp facing a court trial for alleged tax evasion, reports.

Pardew has guided Newcastle to their best start in the Premier League for 17 years, without spending too much cash.

He has also ended the player power off the field with the sales of Joey Barton, Kevin Nolan and Andy Carroll and the demotions of Steve Harper and Alan Smith.

His former Crystal Palace team-mate Gareth Southgate, who heads Football Association's Head of Elite Development described Pardew as a "meticulous planner". (ANI)
