Security stepped up in UP ahead of Babri mosque demolition verdict

Allahabad, Sep 14 (ANI): Stringent security measures have been initiated in Uttar Pradesh to thwart any untoward incident ahead of the verdict on the 1992 Babri Mosque demolition case, due to be pronounced on September 24 by the Allahabad High Court.

 

The top brass of police in Uttar Pradesh met here to discuss all the relevant measures.

 

Later briefing the media persons, Karamvir Singh, Director General of Police said various areas of concern were deliberated upon and solutions for which were also deduced.

 

Briefing media persons in Lucknow, Brij Lal, Additional Director General of Police (Crime, Law and Order), said additional forces will be deployed to prevent any happening.

 

"We have deployed two additional SP (Superintendent of Police), 16 DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police), six Inspectors, 30 Sub-Inspectors, 200 constables, four company PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary) and companies from CRPF and Rapid Action Force in Allahabad High Court," he added.

 

Additional safety measures have been adopted in the court on the request of the judges, who will be presenting the verdict.

 

Meanwhile, keeping the flame of Hindutva alive, certain youngsters in Bhopal under the banner 'Jaago Hind Sangathan' said they were hoping to carry the victory baton after the forthcoming verdict.

 

"We have a lot many goals. Our aim is fight against all those who try to demean our culture, religion and nation. And this is a long-term mission which we will continue," said Damodar Singh Yadav, chairman, Jaago Hind Sangathan, Bhopal.

 

The group also known as 'Bhagwa Brigade' or the saffron brigade are attracting more people to their group by sticking inciting posters across the city.

 

The demolition of the 16th century mosque had triggered widespread communal riots across the country. (ANI)
