Patna /New Delhi, Tue, 14 Sep 2010 ANI

Patna/Kolkata, Sep 14 (ANI): Maoists shot dead a man in West Bengal and set off a blast that partially damaged tracks in Bihar on the second day of their two-day shutdown in six states on Tuesday.

The body of an unidentified man was found this morning.

Posters left beside the body said the man was affiliated to the CPI(M) and a police informer.

In Bihar, the Maoists triggered a blast on railway tracks near Chausima village in Muzaffarpur district early this morning.

According to sources, a carbine and five rounds of ammunition were found beside the tracks.

On Monday, the Maoists killed two policemen in Chhattisgarh, five CPI(M) supporters in West Bengal and blew up a railway track near Karmavad Railway Station in Jharkhand's Giridih District.

The shutdown has been called to press for a probe into the death of top Naxal leader Cherakuri Rajkumar alias Azad, who was killed in an encounter with police on July 2 in Andhra Pradesh's Adilabad District. (ANI)
