Himesh Reshammiya in legal tangle

New Delhi, Wed, 17 Sep 2008 NI Wire

Himesh Reshammiya, music composer turned singer turned actor who is waiting for his next big film ‘Karzz’ to be released now plunged into legal trouble with accusation of stealing lyrics of a song.

Punjabi pop singer Kulwinder Kally accused Himesh of stealing the song 'Soniye je tere nal' – a song from the movie Karzz which the singer had released four years back.

The Punjabi singer alleged that the original song was sung by him in one of his popular album 'Sham Wali Gaddi'. He even said that the song was written by a Pakistan lyricist Shaonki Khan.

Himesh, who is the lead actor and one of the singers of the film, is also the music director of the film while Sameer is the lyricist.

Kulwinder Kally claiming his copyright of the song has demanded the removal of the song from the forthcoming film and charged an amount of Rs 5 crore.

Reshammiya, however, talking to a news channel said he has only sung the particular song which is owned by the producer Bhushan Kumar and the company T-Series; hence he has nothing to do with this controversy.
