Interpol alerted on main suspect in Delhi blasts

New Delhi, Sept 16 (ANI): Abdul Subhan Qureshi, the main suspect in Delhi serial blasts that killed at least 20 and injured over 90 on Saturday evening, has been named as the most wanted man by the Delhi Police and help has been sought from Interpol to nab him.Mumbai Anti Terrorism Squad Additional Commissioner Paramvir Singh said: "Qureshi is the most wanted man. All agencies, including Interpol, are coordinating to nab him."

Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai and Gujarat Police, who believe that the 36-year old computer expert is the man behind the e-mails which were sent after the blasts in Faizabad, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Delhi, are helping the Delhi Police in the probe.

Qureshi alias Tauqeer, who is now being described as India's Osama Bin Laden, is considered the IT face of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).

Police also suspect that he was behind similar attacks in Jaipur in May, and two others in Bangalore and Ahmedabad in July. They believe that he is the one who has hacked into Wi-fi connections to send e-mails claiming responsibility for the attacks on behalf of a group called the Indian Mujahideen (IM).

Investigating agencies believe that the IM is a front for the SIMI, which has been blamed for many other attacks.

Sources said that Qureshi is believed to have visited New Delhi two weeks back and the two persons detained from Okhla could provide leads about him. Qureshi has been named as an accused in various terror attacks since 2003.

Sources also said strong similarities were found between the Delhi blasts and the serial explosions in Ahmedabad on July 26 that left 53 dead.

Delhi police on Monday claimed to have obtained "vital leads" in the Saturday's attacks. Along with Qureshi, they also suspected three persons from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. Thirteen people are being held for questioning in connection with the Delhi blasts. n Saturday, five bombs went off in less than half an hour in Delhi. Two of them in the heart of Delhi in Connaught Place, two at the upscale Greater Kailash M-Block market in South Delhi, and one, the most damaging one, in the crowded Ghaffar Market in Karol Bagh.
