Shillong, Nov 17(ANI): In an attempt to keep alive the memories of the music icons of the 60's and identify budding talent and inculcate amongst them the spirit of good performance, a musical event was organized in Shillong that attracted a large number of music enthusiasts.

The event was organized by the Fashion Society of Shillong, which brought together local musicians to perform the songs of the King of Rock and Roll - Elvis Presley and the fabulous-four of the 1960's- The Beatles.

The annual music event that started in 2008 was held at the U Soso Tham Auditorium in Shillong.

Five local bands and seven individual artists performed in the event that provided a platform to budding musicians. The bands included 'Fourth Element', 'Felixes', 'The Strait Brothers', and 'Polyticks', who recreated the golden musical era.

"You can see participants across generations, most of them very young because we always try to promote new talent. So, some of them maybe have just performed once or twice only on branded shows. So, it's a chance for them to showcase their talent," said Aldous Mawlong, organizer of the show.

While, George Warjri, a local, said: "We should revive the old numbers. It is very important especially for the present generation. As you have seen, the modern generation is changing a lot and is getting worse."

"We need to change and it is only the songs that can convert them and make them understand, that they will realize and reform themselves also. At the same time these are a source of inspiration for their future," he added.

The concert enthralled the audience and brought back memories of the past amongst the people of Shillong particularly those belonging to the older generation. By D. Henpilen(ANI)
