Kullu, Wed, 04 Nov 2009 ANI

Kulu, Nov 4 (ANI): Falling water level in the Beas River has resulted in lesser number of tourists arriving in Kullu.

River rafting is organised along 60 Kilometre long river stretch from Manali to Jirhi in Kullu valley.

Though emerging as a favorite destination for the adventure sports lovers till recently, the valley is suddenly off tourist map due to shortage of water in river Beas. It has affected the prospects of white water river rafting in the region.

Rajdeep, a tourist from Chennai, said he would have enjoyed had there been more rainfall.

"Because of the low rainfall and low water levels the spirit of adventure is there but had there been more water we would have enjoyed more may be we will enjoy it more next season," said Rajdeep.

Chunni lal, a local organiser said that, "Tourists are coming but because of the low water levels fewer tourists are there because the spirit of adventure is high when the water level is high and you don't enjoy when the water level is low."

Inbound tourists who have come here to enjoy river rafting are disappointed.

The local operators have brought down rafting charges from Rs 800 to 500 for long ride. (ANI)
