Heavy rains wreak havoc at tourist hotspots Goa

Canacona (Goa), Oct 3 (ANI): Incessant rains for the last three days wreak havoc in several parts of tourist hot spots in Goa disrupting road, rail and air traffic.

 

As per media reports, two people are feared dead and over a thousand are trapped in some areas of Canacona tal sub-division.

 

Authorities have activated the disaster management set up and senior officials have been asked to keep a tab on the rescue work.escue boats have been put in place to shift the marooned people to safer locations.

 

Runways at Goa's Dabolim airport were flooded for a short-while and train services have also been severely disrupted. Although light-vehicles were moving on the Canacona-Karwar national highway but several inter-state buses were stranded on both sides of the border.

 

As per reports, the people of severely affected villages are temporarily housed in schools, churches, forest rest houses and other buildings at safe locations.

 

Villages in Galgibaga and Canacona regions are mainly affected by the floodwaters due to incessant rains.eanwhile, over 130 people have died and hundreds are being evacuated from areas affected due to heavy rains, which have lashed Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh over the past three days. (ANI)
