National flag hoisted upside down in Chhattisgarh

Dantewada, Sat, 15 Aug 2009 ANI

Dantewada (Chhattisgarh), Aug 15 (ANI): In an incident displaying carelessness of state authorities, the national flag was hoisted upside down during the Independence Day celebrations at Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district on Saturday.

People present on the Independence day function were shocked to notice the tricolour being unfurled by state's Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Lata Usendi.

As per the Flag Code of India guidelines, the tricolour should have saffron at the top, white in the middle and green at the bottom in a sequence.

However, the flag hoisted at Dantewada was upside down with green dominating the top.

The mistake went unnoticed to state authorities, as the nation celebrated the 63rd Independence Day with a joyous mood. (ANI)
