Muslims in Gwalior observe 'Anti-Terrorism Week' with a weeklong rally

Gwalior, Aug.13 (ANI): Ahead of the 63rd Independence Day celebrations to be held across the country on August 15, a group of Muslims in Gwalior is observing an 'Anti-Terrorism Week' to promote patriotism and strengthen the feeling of oneness among all.

 

The group took out a 'Tricolour Rally' this week on Aug.10 to appeal for unity and promote brotherhood.

 

Organised by the Muslim Rashtriya Manch, the weeklong rally is meant to appeal all to take a vow by joining hands with each other against terrorism.

 

"The motive behind the whole week is to defy terrorism and to strengthen the relationship between all religions and communities of the country. During the week, our manch (organisation) is trying to arouse the feeling of patriotism among every Indian," said Shiraaf Qureshi, a functionary of Muslim Rashtriya Manch, organiser of the 'Anti Terrorism Week'.

 

Participating in the rally a number of young boys and girls and children, everyone raised slogans condemning terrorism. They were welcomed with flowers on streets by Bharatiya Janata Party leaders here.

 

Having commenced on Aug.10, the rally will last till Aug.16 during which the Muslims have taken a vow to hoist the tricolour for the entire week in Muslim-dominated cluster areas.

 

The Mayor of Gwalior, Vivek Narain Shejwalkar, welcomed the anti terrorism rally with flowers and applauded the participants for their efforts in reinforcing the unity of the nation.

 

"We do not fear terrorism. We, the Hindus and Muslims, belong to one society. Any kind of terror or fear cannot tear us apart.

 

This rally has been organised to provoke similar feelings among the people," said Vivek Narain Shejwalkar, Mayor of Gwalior. By Ashok Pal (ANI)
