What To See In Suraj Kund Craft Fair

People from far of places have started to turn up and are making a halt in the Suraj Kund city. Situated in the outskirts of Faridabad Haryana, this city hosts Suraj Kund Craft Fair every year. This fair is famous for its platform to the crafts men, artists and dancers which come from different places to showcase their talent and finest of work.

So for all the crafts lover who are looking forward to make their presence felt in this Fair here is what to see in Suraj Kund Craft Fair:

Suraj Kund Craft Fair started in 1987 and is considered to be one of the most famous Fair of Handicraft and Handloom works that is held in India. Crafts men from abroad and from every corner of this country take a halt in this two week long fair to show case their best work.

This year 26th Suraj Kund Craft Fair will have 400 and more renowned crafts men who will make a halt in Suraj Kund from February 1 2012 to February 15 2012. Many foreign countries are also taking part in this fair to present their tradition and culture.

SAARC countries, Uzbekistan, Kyrgystan and Congo are participating, other than these this year Thailand is selected as the partner of this fair. (Thailand was also the Chief Guest in Republic Day Celebration)

Last year Suraj Kund Craft Fair Association recorded a footfall of 7.5 lakh and is expecting to touch more than 10 lakh this year.

Highlight of this year Mela is an "Apna Ghar", which will depict Haryana's culture, themes and atmosphere.

3. Fashion Show on Khadi (3rd February 2012)

4. Fusion of traditional and western/contemporary dance and music by Dinesh Yadav, NSD (5th February 2012)

5. Hasya Kavi Samelan by Dinesh Raghuvanshi (7th February 2012)

6. Blend of Fusion Kathak (8th February 2012)

7. Qawali by Niami Bandhu (10th February 2012)

8. Band and Rock by Padamjeet Sherawat (12th February 2012)

9. Azaadi The Band (14th February 2012)

10. Closing Ceremony (15th February 2012)

Cultural programs will start from 6pm and will go on till 10pm. However, the Fair entry is from 9:30am in the morning till 7pm in the evening.

It's not a just any fair, its unparallel and unique, in the terms that it's a place where one can see mixture of traditions, culture and rituals of not only the different states of India but also of the different countries of the world. This Feb it is the place to be if you appraise finest crafts men ship, love the folk dances and artwork. 

Suraj Kund is just 8 kms away from New Delhi and visitors can reach there through busses arranged specially for this fair. These busses can be boarded from New Delhi.
