Surajkund Crafts Mela 2011, begins on 1st Feb. as every year. Let us take a Tour to Surajkund Fair, Near Delhi with Joyride on choppers, fashion show on tribal attire, delicious food from Thailand and Assam much more as major attractions.

Amazing and eye catching handicrafts by the dexterous crafts persons across the country and 11 foreign countries will again add the color to 26th edition of the 15-day fair this year.

This year, more than 700 artists from India, the SAARC nations and countries like Thailand, Congo, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgystan will be participating in the Mela.

Surajkund Crafts Mela is well known for promoting the concept of 'mini-India', by showcasing the rural lifestyle and ambiance, this year the stalls are in form of huts and the roads are kachcha roads as in villages, thus justifying the theme. Apart from that traditional dance performances have also been arranged.

As Assam has been decided as the theme state this year, 300 Assamese dancers from various tribes like Boro, Mising and Karbi will be performing traditional dance forms like Satriya, Jhumur and Sikhla in this colourful ceremony.

With the assistance of the northeastern state, a fashion show of tribal designs has also been organized for the visitors.

A replica of a typical mud thatched roof Assamese house named 'Apna Ghar' has also been made with bamboo doors displaying the living status and lifestyle of people of Aasam. Children can play with ducks in the verandah of 'Apna Ghar', which is not very common in city life. Similarly, more house has been made to display the living of a family of Haryana.

Replicas of different monuments like Charminar, Badrinath temple and Shah Hamdan Dargah has been showcased from various parts of India in 30-acre area. This will the point of attraction for photo loving visitors for taking photographs at different locations.

This year, visitors can enjoy a bird's eye view of the Mela as special arrangements of helicopter joyrides have been introduced for the first time in the Surajkund Crafts Mela.

Special food zone has been made where you can get a variety of dishes from the theme state of Aasam and other states and also from Thailand.

Special concessions have been made in the tickets for senior citizens and the differently abled this year, with tickets available at Rs 25/- for them and golf-carts and battery-operated rickshaws are also arranged for their use at the fair grounds.
