Surajkund Craft Mela is about the promotion of rural arts and crafts to the entire world. The artists and carfts person across the country come here with their Arts and Crafts to showcase their creations or see this fabulous fair. With all the colors of art and craft in a single platform, this Mela becomes one of the most attractive fairs of India.

With a record footfall of more than 7.5 lakhs visitors last year, Suraj Kund Craft Fair Association has predicted the number of visitors to reach 10 lakhs this year. Since 1897, when the first Surajkund mela was held, the number of visitors keeps increasing every year.

In 2012, the theme of state for as every year for the Mela is Aasam and there is more to see and do in this mela this year with lots of fun and entertainment. Surajkund Fair is known to represent the things made of hands such as paintings, pottery, jewellery, clothes, wall hangings, showpieces, cushion covers, kitchenwares, furniture etc. This fair displays the real talent of hands from various artists across the nation.

But apart from that there is lot more in the Mela to watch. A number of cultural programs are organized to entertain the visitors and to increase th foot fall in the mela . This year with the participation of Thailand, SAARC countries, Uzbekistan, Kyrgystan and Congo, the event will become more colorful and entertaining. All the countries will perform various cultural programs to show their tradition and culture.

This years mela will be very entertaining with lots of cultural programs every evening from 6.PM to 10 PM. The major cultural highlights of this year Surajkund Crafts Mela will be:

• 1^st Feb, 2012: Cultural performance by Assam, the theme state for the 26^th Surajkund Crafts Mela 2012. The dance will perform by people of Aasam to show their culture in dance form.
• 2^nd Feb, 2012: Medley by the Foreign participants from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Congo with their Cultural troupes.
• 3^rd Feb, 2012: A fascinating fashion Show on Khadi
• 4^th Feb, 2012: Odissi Dance performance by famous odissi dancer Ms. Alpana Nayak followed by Cultural performance by Assam.
• 5^th Feb, 2012: fusion of traditional, western and contemporary dance on the music of Dinesh Yadav.
• 6^th Feb, 2012: Haryana Evening by Department of Cultural Affairs, Haryana
• 7^th Feb, 2012: Entertaining Hasya Kavi Samelan with Dinesh Raghuvanshi
• 8^th Feb, 2012: Blend of Fusion Kathak by the multifaceted lady Ms. Anu Sinha.
• 9^th Feb, 2012:Punjab Evening arranged by Department of the Cultural affairs, Haryana
• 10^th Feb, 2012: Qawali evening by famous qawali permormers Niami Bandhu
• 11^th Feb, 2012: Performance on the Play-Nayan Nachaaiya by Sh. Bansi Kaul and Sh. Fareed Bazmi
• 12^th Feb, 2012: Band and Rock by Padamjeet Sehrawat
