Surajkund Craft Mela is about the promotion of rural arts and crafts to the entire world. With a record footfall of more than 7.5 lakhs visitors last year, Suraj Kund Craft Fair Association has predicted the number of visitors to reach 10 lakhs this year. Since 1897, when the first Surajkund mela was held, the number of visitors keeps increasing every year.

In 2012, the theme of state for as every year for the Mela is Aasam and there is more to see and do in this mela this year with lots of fun and entertainment. Surajkund Fair is known to represent the things made of hands such as paintings, pottery, jewellery, clothes, wall hangings, showpieces, cushion covers, kitchenwares, furniture etc. This fair displays the real talent of hands from various artists across the nation.
But apart from that there is lot more in the Mela to watch. A number of cultural programs are organized to entertain the visitors and to increase th foot fall in the mela . This year with the participation of Thailand, SAARC countries, Uzbekistan, Kyrgystan and Congo, the event will become more colorful and entertaining. All the countries will perform various cultural programs to show their tradition and culture.
