The 2G Spectrum allocation row continued this year too and was always in the headlines of all newspapers, channels and media houses through out the year. This year, some new names were allegedly involved in an estimated Rs.1,76,000-crore 2G scam. These include Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (M P) and daughter of former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M Karunanidhi, M K Kanimozhi, and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.
In the second charge sheet of CBI, Kanimozhi was made accused of being involved in 2G-spectrum scam and she also went to jail on 20 May 2011 and granted bail on 28 November 2011.
Subramanian Swamy, the president of Janta Party and the chief petitioner for this case in the court of law pleads before special CBI court that P Chidambaram should be made co-accused.
However, government moved to the Supreme Court in order to seeking restrain to Dr Subramanian Swamy from making public allegations against the UPA leadership (especially Home Minister P Chidambaram and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi) in the 2G scam case.
The case is still under trial in Delhi High Court and CBI Special Court and is likely to be continued in the next few years. There is a lot of chance that 2G Spectrum row can continue to be in lime light for the next few years.
