Shameful! Para-athlete forced to beg on Bhopal streets

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Sep 02 (ANI): A national level para-athlete took to streets on Sunday in Bhopal district of Madhya Pradesh (MP) to register protest for the promise made by the state government to provide jobs to para-athletes remained unfulfilled. Manmohan Singh Lodhi, a national-level para-sprinter from Narsinghpur, who won silvers each in 100m and 200m race at the 35th National Games held in Gandhinagar district of Gujarat from June 5 to 10, 2017 was forced to beg on the streets of Bhopal. Manmohan Singh Lodhi said that he has started begging on the streets of Bhopal since the state government is not fulfilling the promise of a government job made to him among other para-athletes, after he won medals on national-level. “I have met Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan four times, he made promises but didn't fulfill any of them. I am financially weak. I need money to play & also to run my family. If CM doesn't help me, I will earn my livelihood by begging on the streets.” said the para-athlete.
