London, Mar 24 (ANI): Despite the global economic meltdown, lingerie chains Agent Provocateur and Ann Summers have witnessed an increase in sales.
In the past years, sales of everything from racy bras to nipple tassels have surged.
Agent Provocateur uses celebrity models such as Kate Moss, Daisy Lowe and Catherine Bailey to promote its ranges.
And across the business, which has 12 UK outlets and 43 overseas, sales are up eight per cent since March last year - after topping 20 million pounds in the previous 12 months.
Garry Hogarth, Agent Provocateur chief executive, believes that people have been spending extra on items that make life more interesting.I guess Britain's decided it needs a bit of cheering up," the Sun quoted Hogarth, as saying.
Last week, Ann Summers said its Valentine's Day sales were up 14 per cent on the previous year.
However, it's not just the lingerie firms that are doing brisk business in the economic downturn.
Domino's Pizza reported its best-ever profits last month and figures show more than 8,000 video games were sold every hour in the UK last year. (ANI)
