Anita Kaul succeeds D. K. Sikri as Justice department Secretary

New Delhi, Aug. 1 (ANI): Anita Kaul took over as the Secretary of the Department of Justice in the Ministry of Law and Justice. She succeeds D.K. Sikri, who retired on Wednesday.

Kaul, a 1979 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Karnataka cadre, was previously the Principal Secretary of Planning in the Programme Implementation Department of the Government of Karnataka. She has also served as the Joint Secretary and Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Human Resource Development (Government of India).

The Department of Justice is responsible for the appointment and transfer of Supreme Court judges, as well as those of the 24 High Courts of the country. (ANI)
