Obama will win White House if Giants win World Series: Analysis

Washington, Wed, 24 Oct 2012 ANI

Washington, Oct. 24 (ANI): If President Barack Obama wants to stay at the White House, he will be rooting for the San Francisco Giants to beat the Detroit Tigers in the upcoming World Series.

And if Mitt Romney wants to 'improve' his chances of winning, he'd better hope the Motor City team wins, a ballclub he grew up watching before switching his loyalties to the Boston Red Sox as the governor of Massachusetts.

According to analysis of World Series victories and presidential election history by Major League Baseball (MLB), an American League win signifies that the Republican nominee will win, while a National League win correlates with a Democratic win.

A Republican candidate has won 59 percent of the time when an AL team has won, Politico reports.

The 'trend' is even more pronounced on the National League side, with a Democrat winning 67 percent of the election years when the team has won the World Series.

MLB analyzed World Series results and presidential election outcomes over the past 104 years to come up with their decidedly non-scientific and dubiously predictive conclusions, the report said.

There's obviously no real, direct correlation between baseball and the presidential election. But, on the other hand, both are infused with tradition and a good bit of superstition, the report added. (ANI)
