Violence-torn Manipur invites protesters for talks over ILP

Churachandpur, Sep 04 (ANI): Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, G Gaikhangam invited protesters from hilly regions to discuss their concerns with the state government.At least eight people have been killed in the province in violence related to implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) to protect the indigenous population and control influx of people from other states. Gaikhangam said that the government had taken care of the interest of the hill people and saw no reason in withdrawing the bill. In order to check the spread of violence, mobile services have been suspended and curfew imposed in the district. ILP is a travel document that restricts the entry and stay of people from outside the state without permission.
