Traders appeal tourists not to cancel Kashmir visit due to floods

Srinagar, April 02 (ANI): Tour operators and hoteliers in Jammu and Kashmir urged people not to cancel their trips to the valley and said the government and the media are blowing the news of Kashmir floods out of proportion. Tour operators, hoteliers and tour managers held a meeting in Srinagar to decide on how to bring the tourists back to the valley and stop cancellations of bookings. Heavy rains and a landslide in Kashmir killed several people as authorities continued working to rescue stranded villagers, with unseasonal rains raising fears of flash floods in the region. Traders from the tourism industry say the recent flash floods in Kashmir have hit the tourism sector badly. Meanwhile, Indian army officials, along with a number of doctors, visited the valley’s alone pediatric hospital to provide assistance to patients. Last year, during the devastating floods in September, this hospital faced a lot of problems due to lack of resources.
