Temple in Unao has wells full of ghee

We have heard many time that the well has been filled with water, this time too but this time the well has been filled with the Ghee, not with water.It was not that one well was filled with Ghee, total 9 wells were filled with the Ghee. This happened at Balaji Surya Mandir complex in Unao situated at 17 kilometers away from Datia in Madhya Pradesh.Here the devotees offered so much of Ghee for Akhand Jyoti in 50 years that wells were made to store it. 8 kilo Ghee is used for Akhand Jyoti on daily basis whereas more than 17 kilo of Ghee is being offered daily. This offering reaches the mark of 125 kilograms. This offering reaches the mark of eight tons during different festivals. To store this ghee a well is created and when it is filled then another one is created. This number has reached the figure of 9 now.It is being believed that the tradition of offering pure Ghee started around 400 years ago with the inception of the temple. Devotees offer ghee to fulfill their wishes, to get rid of Leprosy or skin diseases, to get fame and children.The amount of ghee offered during Makar Sankranti, Vasant Panchami, Rang Panchami and Dol Gyaras in the Balaji Surya Temple matches the amount of the ghee offered during the whole year.
