TMC sweeps municipal corporation elections in West Bengal
Kolkata/ North Dinajpur, Oct 10 (ANI): The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has swept the three municipal corporation elections in West Bengal, according to trends. Re-polling was held at nine booths of Bidhan Nagar Municipal Corporation and two booths of Asansol Municipal Corporation yesterday, amid voter apathy and a boycott call by the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Left parties. In Bidhan Nagar Municipal Corporation, the TMC won 37 wards while the Left bagged 2. Out of 106 seats in the Asansol Municipal Corporation, TMC won 65 seats. Meanwhile, clashes erupted between TMC and CPM workers in North Dinajpur during central co-operative bank elections. Police resorted to baton charge to disperse the agitated crowd.
