South India bakes as heat wave continues

Vijayawada/Visakhapatnam, May 23 (ANI): Residents of Andhra Pradesh continued to sweat it out on Saturday as the scorching heat made life difficult for them. The unabated heat wave has claimed over 50 lives in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. With the mercury touching 46 degrees Celsius in some areas, several degrees above normal, the streets wore a deserted look on Saturday as people were forced to stay indoors. A resident of Vijayawada city of Andhra Pradesh, Priya said the scorching heat has made it unbearable for them to venture out of the houses. The government has also issued an advisory, listing the 'Do's and Don'ts' and asking the residents to remain indoors due to onslaught of hot summer season. A resident of Visakhapatnam city, Sunita said air conditioners have become a necessity due to heat wave.
