Somalia bomb attack: Death count tops 300

Mogadishu (Somalia), Oct 17 (ANI): Somalia's deadliest attack in a decade killed more than 300 people after twin bomb explosions in Mogadishu. The death toll steadily increased since Saturday, when the blasts exploded at two busy junctions in the capital city. No organisation has claimed responsibility for the blasts but Islamist militant group al-Shabaab, which is allied to al-Qaeda, has staged regular attacks in the country. The weekend attacks are the bloodiest since the group began its insurgency against Somalia's UN-backed government in 2007. A spokesman for the Aamin Ambulance service informed that it was proving difficult for people to find their friends and relatives as they were just finding unrecognisable body parts. A doctor at Mogadishu's Madina hospital said 258 deaths have been recorded by them out of which 160 bodies could not be recognised and were buried by the government on Sunday.
