Smriti Irani joins people celebrating ‘Bathukamma’ festival
New Delhi, Sep 30 (ANI): Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani joined a huge gathering in celebrating the festivities of floral festival of ‘Bathukamma’ at the Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi on Friday. Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya was also present during the joyous ceremonies. Bathukamma is a colourful and vibrant festival of Telangana, celebrated by women, as a symbol of state’s cultural identity. The festival falls before the onset of winters. The women folk dress up in their best, adorn ornaments, carry a flowers-made pattern called ‘Bathukammalu’, which is immersed into a water body. This year, the festival that marks cultural spirit of Telangana, falls from October 1st to 10th.
