Silk printing units to boost sericulture industry in Tripura
Agartala, May 26 (ANI): The government's initiative to setup a silk printing unit in Tripura would further boost the sericulture sector of the state. Tripura government is making all possible efforts to increase silk production through adaptation of modern techniques which in turn would augment income of rural folk, especially women. Several silk reeling and spinning centers have come up in Tripura to cope up with the increasing production of silk cocoon. Earlier, the printing of the silk saris was done from outside the state, which was a lengthy and expensive process. But now with central textile ministry's announcement of setting up a silk printing unit in Tripura, it will further boost the handloom, handicraft and sericulture with which 1,14,000 people are engaged.
