Siddaramaiah directs CID probe in rationalist MM Kalburgi murder
Bengaluru/Dharwad, Aug 31 (ANI): In the wake of arising questions post renowned literary scholar M M Kalburgi was shot dead at a close range at his residence in Dharwad, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah directed a CID probe in his murder on Monday. Kalburgi was shot dead outside his home in Dharwad on Sunday, producing a wave of speculation on the identity and motive of his killers.He died in hospital after being shot at close range by an assailant, who arrived at his doorstep at 9 am on Sunday morning.The heinous act aroused acrimony in the locals leading to a multitude of people joining the procession of the scholar’s last rites. Earlier, people wore black arm bands and formed a human chain in protest against Kalburgi's murder.
