Shashi Deshpande quits Sahitya Akademi Council over silence on Kalburgi murder
Bengaluru, Oct 10 (ANI): Renowned Author Shashi Deshpande resigned from Sahitya Akademi Council in protest of the council's silence over writer MM Kalburgi's murder. In a letter to Akademi's chairman, Deshpande stated that Akademi should stand up against growing intolerance in the nation. While talking about the same, she said that there are rules that bind the council but sometimes one needs to come out of them for greater purpose.
