Shani Shingnapur row: Protestors meet temple's trustees
Ahmednagar (Maharashtra), Feb 06 (ANI): Women protestors on Saturday held a meeting with Shani Shingnapur temple's management over the centuries-old ban on women’s entry into the sanctum of the temple. Women activist Trupti Desai, who also heads the Bhumata Ranragani Brigade, said the discussion was very positive, adding that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will further take apt action on the same.
Shani Shingnapur temple drew attention in November 2015 after a woman had offered prayers at the popular shrine in "breach" of age-old practice that prohibits entry of women, after which the temple committee had to suspend seven security men and the villagers to perform purification rituals.
