SC rejects Jat students' petition for reservation in medical, dental colleges
New Delhi, Mar 31 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected the plea of students belonging to the Jat community seeking reservation in admission to post graduate medical and dental courses. As per reports, the apex court said that at the time of All India counselling, these Jat students were treated as OBCs. The Supreme Court had earlier stated that caste cannot be the sole ground for reservation and quashed the Jat notification of the reservation bill. Lawyer of the petitioners, Ombir Singh, said the order clearly stated the community is not entitled to any reservations. OBCs have 27 percent quota in government educational institutions and jobs.
