Rival political factions clash in WB, 2 killed

Bardhaman, Sep 23 (ANI): Cadres of the Communist Party of India Marxist clashed with supporters of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Bardhaman region of West Bengal, killing two persons and wounding 18 others. The incident took place at Saithi village, where TMC activists Sarafat and Bidya Tudu were killed after the clash broke out in the midst of a political gathering. The CPM denied all involvement in the incident, saying that the TMC activists were the ones who had opened fire, and accidentally killed men belonging to their own outfit. The TMC, on the other hand, said that the CPM had initiated the violence in a desperate bid to gain a political advantage ahead of village council polls in the state.
