Rainstorm kills five in Pakistan's Peshawar

Peshawar, Sep 04 (ANI): Heavy rain coupled with a thunderstorm wreaked havoc in parts of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province, killing at least five people and injuring dozens in roof collapse and other rain-related incidents, reports said. Three children were among the dead, hospital sources in Peshawar said. According to the Met office, the storm with a velocity of 75km per hour swept through the region, with 47 millimeters of rain falling within hours. The downpour triggered several incidents of roof collapse in Peshawar and other parts of KPK late at night. Dozens of people injured in the storm were brought to the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar. Rescue officials said the strong rainstorm uprooted trees and signboards in many localities and destroyed crops on a vast area. Lightning struck a building where some vehicles were parked for the night, setting the vehicles on fire.
