PM applauds Bombay HC for declining pendency cases

Mumbai, Aug 18 (ANI): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today applauded the contribution of the Bombay High Court in decline in the number of pendency cases. While addressing a gathering of legal luminaries in Mumbai to mark the closing ceremony of the 150th anniversary celebrations of the Bombay High Court, Singh said that it had demonstrated time and again that the judicial process was neither cold nor impersonal. Singh further pointed out that the law was not only a code of commands, but in its relationship to society, the source of freedom, a methodology to redress grievances, a source of good governance and, above all, an instrument of social and economic change.
